The Blazar Remus are an exciting challenger in the very new space of micro-budget anamorphic lenses!
They have plenty of barrel distortion and aberrations to embrace as a compromise for the price point, but this ‘compromised’ look feels thoughtfully designed and can be reminiscent of much costlier and harder to access anamorphics. That said, the character can differ between focal lengths and their particular distortion can get crazy and potentially distracting in certain contexts (e.g. subjects at the edge of frame, or doing slow locked-off pans). But if their double-edged qualities are right for the project, then we prefer the Remus in tests over many of the other options at this price and the other Blazar lenses. An analogy might be that you can get unique and great images from the portability an ‘imperfect’ lens on a point-and-shoot or disposable camera.
The Remus lenses cover full-frame with a 1.5x squeeze factor, and they are small and light enough to put on a RS2 gimbal and even the Ronin 4D.
